BOAT GRAPHIC INSTALLATION
Vinyl Boat Name/Graphic Install
WAX ON - WAX OFF...right? For a certified and approved IBG graphic installer, GRAPHIC ON - GRAPHIC OFF is a standard practice. With this being said, many
materials are extremely delicate and temperamental until they are fully installed. There are different material thicknesses, adhesive properties, and pressure sensitive behaviors to contend with as each vinyl type has its specific limitations. With experience, our graphic installer will help by recommending the most appropriate material for your project. We are more than happy to share our knowledge as well as provide a set of instructions for those who choose to "self install". This being said, if you do not have experience we do recommend leaving it up to the professionals.
IBG does offer a 100% warranty and quality commitment with our vinyl graphic installation service. When an authorized IBG graphic installer is used we stand behind the graphics for as long as you own them. Our interconnected graphic installation network is worldwide and we are more than happy to provide this quality service for you.
Graphic Install Placement:
One must consider their unique layout constraints. Latches, doors, traffic, and the application surface curvature should all be accounted for. All materials have limitations. For optimal results, the consideration of the installation placement must be factored in to the equation. It is a good idea to send us a photo so that we can talk about a general placement area together prior to the layout design and installation. When ordering and designing a name, placement is signficant and crucial. Often, a graphic installation placement plan allows for the best possible overall presentation.
Graphic Removal:
At times, it can quite literally be a tedious, sticky and messy spot to be in; but it's got to be done. In many cases, the right amount of "Heat-n-Technique" is all that's required. When vinyl is left too long however; special removers and tools are required. Proceed with caution and if you are without experience, feel free to contact us for tips. Too much heat, improper blades or chemicals can very easily damage the Gelcoat and other items near by. The most valuable component to vinyl graphic removal is patience. Installation Surface Preparation:
It is important that installation surfaces are clean and clear of any imperfections as they will show and can affect durability. It is important to remove any oxidation or "chalkyness" as it will cause the adhesive to not perform and can even lead to material failure. In most cases, a simple rubbing compound and some elbow grease can setup your surface for success. In other extreme cases where the graphic has baked in the sun for many years, a yellowing imprint can still be visible. In this event, Wet Sanding may be the only option to remove the Gelcoal yellowing. ALL IBG graphic installations include a oxidation removal, compound & polish.
Graphic Care:
First and foremost, graphic installation placement should be given much consideration. This is the most important element to longevity. Do not under any circumstances pressure wash your graphic. Use a gentle hand washing soap and cloth when cleaning, and avoid brushing by any tools. When possible, cover your graphic from the sun. Be cautious when trying to reduce as much physical wear as possible through ropes, clothing or direct contacts. It is okay to wax the graphic and in some cases it is recommended. All graphics are virtually ready once they are applied however; ideally one day in the sun's UV rays will cure it nicely.
