Commonly, patches & crests are seen applied to high quality uniforms, apparel and merchandise.
Patches not only offer superior intrinsic value, but also a convenience factor as well as cost efficiency for larger orders. If you are already considering a standard embroidered order, consider the advantages of creating your very own embroidered crest..
Advantages
- Versatility: patches can be applied to practically any existing garment, towel, fabric, or locally sourced piece of merchandise.

Ordering
Below are the six main elements we will review with you when placing an order:
1 - PATCH SIZE & SHAPE
Use this size chart to determine your patch size.
The overall patch size is: width (W) + height (H) divided by 2. Fractions are rounded up to the nearest 1/2 inch.
2 - THREAD / FABRIC COLORS
Use the colour chart to determine your embroidery thread & fabric colours.
Choose up to 7 thread colors. PMS or other embroidery thread colors will be matched as closely as possible.
|
Choose from assorted polyester color twill background fabric. Felt and other fabrics also available.
|
3 - EMBROIDERY COVERAGE
Estimate the percentage of patch that will be covered by stitching.
FULL Embroidery
|
PARTIAL Embroidery
|
4 - STITCH TYPE
Review the different stitching options.
Satin Stitch |
Fill Stitch |
Flat stitches sewn closely together to cover sections of fabric. Used for letters, borders, and areas of design. Forms a pattern resembling satin. |
A series of parallel running stitches to cover large areas. Can alter the angle, length, and repeat sequence of the stitches for different patterns. |
Running Stitch |
Puff Embroidery |
A single line of stitches used mostly for thin outlines or borders. Used for fine detailing or edging. |
Satin stitches sewn over a foundation creating a 3-D puffy effect. Works best with large rounded elements.
|
5 - BORDER TYPES
Choose the type of border which best suits your patch style, size and shape.
Merrow
|
Hot Knife Cut |
Standard patch border. A 1/8" border that overlocks the emblem edge, preventing fraying. For large, simple shapes like circles and shields. |
Smooth, hot knife cut stitched border. For patches with complex shapes and/or detailed borders this cut works well for edging. |
Satin Stitch Border
|
Smooth Cut
|
A hot knife cut border with a 1/16" satin stitch edge that simulates a merrow border without overlocking the emblem's edge. |
Smooth cut fabric border. No stitching on the patch edge. This is good for collectible uses or for storage and future use.
|
6 - BACKINGS
Choose the type of backing to best suit your application needs.
